Fairborn, OH — Veterans, public officials, city leaders and residents turned out on 25 May 2009 to observe a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. The ceremony was hosted by the American Legion Post #526, aka the Dignam-Whitmore Post, and was held at the Fairfield Cemetery.

In attendance were Mayor Gary Woodward, Deputy Mayor Joan Dautel, members of city council and City Manager Deborah McDonnell. Police Chief Terry Barlow and Michael G. Riley, Fire Chief, were also present. The Honorable Steve Austria (OH-7) gave the opening speech. Memorial Day observances were led by George Coffer, Post Commander of the American Legion.
